Celebrating Global Entrepreneurs and Artisans on International Women’s Day

March 2, 2020: Qurate Retail Group has a long-standing commitment to supporting women entrepreneurs through its powerful retail platforms, and through professional experiences that help women leaders thrive. On International Women’s Day (March 8), we’re proud to dedicate a day to celebrating women entrepreneurs, including those who got their start here and those who are building businesses all over the world.

As part of our celebration, QVC and HSN will be contributing $50,000 to Nest, a woman-founded non-profit that helps to equip artisan women with training, skills and resources through grassroots business development programs. Customers will also be invited to join us by donating to the organization on QVC.com or HSN.com. Since 2016, QVC and HSN, along with our customers and vendors, have donated more than $1.2 million to Nest.

In 2019, Qurate Retail Group launched our Fellowship program, through which our team members volunteer to share their skills with artisans in emerging economies. We collaborated with Nest to match 13 team members from across our markets and businesses with four female-led, US-based social enterprises that are committed to women’s employment in crafts, including quilting, sewing, and screen printing. During the fellowship, Qurate Retail Group team members spent two weeks on-site with the organizations to provide more than 1,700 total hours of pro bono consulting, sharing their professional experiences to impart new skills on women business leaders at these enterprises. By helping these women gain new knowledge, Qurate Retail Group made a positive impact on over 200 artisans and the families that they support.

Qurate Retail Group plans to continue the fellowship program opportunity for 2020 and is currently reviewing team member applications.

In addition to supporting Nest, Qurate Retail Group is also celebrating International Women’s Day with internal events to inspire and unite women team members. Our brands and international markets are hosting women keynote speakers, workshops, round-table discussions, and programs focusing on women’s empowerment and success.

This week, QVC and HSN’s streaming channels, including Roku and Amazon Fire TV, will feature a collection of content focused on women and our collaboration with Nest. On March 8, QVC and HSN’s broadcasts will feature women entrepreneurs, stylemakers and hosts sharing their stories of inspiration.
