Community & Social Impact

Qurate Retail Group - Together for Good / logo

We invest in the causes that promote the health and wealth of women around the world, enabling and unlocking the full potential of women to thrive in all aspects of life.

Our Strategy & Commitments

We believe that an empowered woman is a powerful woman.

At Qurate Retail Group, we are committed to the well-being of women and opportunities that empower them to be their best selves.

We invest in the causes that promote the health and wealth of women around the world, enabling and unlocking the full potential of women to thrive in all aspects of life. By promoting the well-being and economic empowerment of women, we can help to foster greater gender equality and advance more inclusive and prosperous societies. Women’s empowerment is not only a human rights issue, but it is also a smart investment in our collective future.

Through our corporate philanthropy, cause marketing and team member giving and volunteering, we aim to deliver measurable and differentiated social and community impact. Our current commitments include:

Between 2020–2025, commit $100 million in total contributions

With $50 million directed towards women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship

Between 2020–2025, complete 100,000 team member volunteer hours

Our Strategic Focus Areas

Despite a near-even worldwide gender distribution, disparities between men and women in wealth, representation, and health care access persist. Qurate Retail Group’s Together for Good initiative seeks to bridge these gaps by empowering women globally. In any given year, we seek to focus 60% of our direct and in-kind contributions to causes that support key health issues facing women today, as well as remove barriers to improving their financial security.

Product Donations

Another way we leverage our company resources and scale to create positive social impact is through our product donations. In partnership with many of our vendors, QRG facilitates millions of dollars of product and other in-kind donations each year. In 2023, this included product donations valued at $24.7M impacting communities in 17 countries. One of our global partners, World Vision, Inc., distributed 4,262 pallets of QRG product in 2023.

Through re-use, we extend the life of product while also providing essential items to those in need. Our collaboration with World Vision also included supporting their Women’s Empowerment Fund, particularly through Savings Groups – where women in poor communities learn financial literacy, save money together in small amounts and lend to each other when needs arise, such as family members’ illness, children’s education, and falling income due to climate induced disasters. This powerful program fuels economic growth and empowerment on a global scale.

Another product donation partner that helps us distribute much needed goods, as well as minimize our impact on the environment, is Harvest Time International. Harvest Time empowers like-minded nonprofits by providing merchandise donated to them to support their partner organization in their mission. This helps in providing a hand up and out of the cycle of hunger and poverty for women and families. As one of their partner organizations shared:

Earlier this year, in partnership with local churches, our community organized an empowerment event aimed at boosting confidence and self-assurance among women and teenage girls in low-income situations. Your generous contribution provided resources such as hair straighteners and makeup kits, crafted from donated QVC donation pallets, to enhance their self-care routines and self-confidence. The event highlighted the importance of mentorship, with women leaders stepping up to guide the younger generation towards self-respect and dignity. Your support was instrumental in making this event a success, and we're deeply grateful for your contribution.

Cause Marketing

Given our scale and multi-media platforms, cause marketing initiatives are a powerful tool to both raise awareness and funds for causes important to our customers and team members. Since our founding, we have raised hundreds of millions of dollars for charities worldwide utilizing our on-air, digital and social media capabilities, and most importantly through the generosity of our customers and vendor community.

Since its launch in 2021, the QVC US Living for Giving campaign, benefiting Feeding America, has provided over 28 million meals. HSN and Cornerstone continue their longstanding support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, raising over $851,000 in 2023 for patients and their families. Cornerstone’s annual One Warm Coat partnership raised over $40,250 and provided new coats to families in need during the holiday season. QVC Japan’s Pink Ribbon Month campaign featured 20 brands and raised ¥5,342,464 in 2023.

Since 2023, HSN has celebrated National Military Appreciation Month by raising awareness and support for Foundation for Women Warriors (“FFWW”), a 103-year-old nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring and empowering the women veteran's community. During May, HSN matched customer donations up to $75,000 with a special promotion on Memorial Day, matching donations up to an additional $25,000 with all proceeds benefiting FFWW. In 2023, HSN raised over $239,000 through customer and corporate donations. These funds go towards FFWW’s important work focused on enhancing the personal and economic well-being of women veterans by providing access to scholarships, internships, and mentorship opportunities.

Each year, our QRG brands celebrate International Women’s Day (“IWD”) in a number of ways – and 2024 was no exception. QVC US celebrated on all its platforms with 24-hours of programming highlighting products from women-owned and –founded businesses, products that support women’s empowerment, and even shout-outs on air to a few of our team members. Our QVC International markets also joined the celebration by organizing customer events and brand campaigns to promote the health and wealth of women. IWD for QVC Germany was all about empowering women’s health through their “Scan to Take Care” initiative – an awareness campaign initiated by Pink Ribbon Germany to promote early detection of breast cancer through regular screenings and self-examinations. This cross-channel activation included having all on-air presenters wear the “Scan to Take Care” sticker on March 8th, a flyer and sticker that was used as a package insert, and social media promotions.
